Florida Residency for Tuition Purposes

All students start out as out-of-state students. Submit your residency documents early to avoid paying three times the tuition cost. If you are not sure how to proceed, contact us at Admissions Info. 

 

Key Terms to understand during this process: 

 

  • Tuition: Basic fee for classes. 

  • Out-of-state fee: Extra cost for non-Florida residents. (3 times the regular tuition) 

  • Dependent Status: Under 24 years old? Parent/guardian’s documents needed. 

  • Independent Status: Over 24 years old or self-sufficient. 

 

Do I qualify for in-state tuition? 

 
All students must submit a Florida Residency Declaration Form and two documents to prove residency. Students must show 12 months of Florida residency and submit supporting documents. 

 

Submit Your Florida Residency Documents Remotely: Complete the residency declaration form online through the Florida Residency Declaration for Tuition Purposes form. 

 

First Group (at least one required): 

 

  • Florida driver’s license or ID 

  • Florida vehicle registration 

  • Florida voter’s registration card 

  • Homestead exemption 

  • Florida high school transcript (2+ years) 

 

Second Group (optional): 

 

  • Declaration of domicile 

  • Florida professional/occupational license 

  • Utility bills with 12 months of payments 

  • Lease agreement with 12 months of payments
